Generic Name: sulfasalazine (SUL fa SAL a zeen)

Brand Name: Azulfidine, Azulfidine EN-tabs, Sulfazine

Where to buy Azulfidine Online?

Azulfidine is the brand name for sulfasalazine, which is an anti-inflammatory drug that comes in the form of gold, round tablets to be taken orally.

How It Works

This drug works to reduce swelling or inflammation that occurs internally by releasing medication into your intestine to firstly prevent the irritation to the stomach. It then allows the medication to work in the intestine to actively reduce the inflammation.

Azulfidine can be used to handle patients experiencing diarrhea and rectal bleeding. Doctors may also prescribe Azulfidine for those who have ulcerative colitis or Crohn’s disease, which are irritable bowel conditions.

You would generally be prescribed to take Azulfidine four times daily at evenly spaced intervals, that is, every eight hours. You should only swallow the tablets whole. The medication should be taken after your meal or at least with something small, followed by a glass of water, preferably 8 ounces. Please make sure that you are continuously hydrating yourself by drinking at least six to eight glasses of water every day.

You should never alter the doses or frequency of the dosage. Even once you are feeling well and you have the remaining tablets, do not stop taking Azulfidine. In the event you have missed a dose, take the dose immediately; but, if it is almost time for the next dose, you can skip it, and continue your regular doses as scheduled. Never take a double dose to make up for the missed one. If you are hesitant about anything, please consult your doctor or pharmacist to clarify.

Side Effects

Azulfidine may cause side effects such as temporary infertility in males, which will cease once the medication is no longer taken, or color change of your urine to yellowish-orange. The latter is harmless.

However, if the following symptoms are severe or it simply would not go away, kindly contact your doctor:

loss of appetite
upset stomach
stomach pain

Warning: Please discontinue the medication and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

skin rash
sore throat
joint or muscle aches
pale or yellow skin
difficulty swallowing
unusual bleeding or bruising

If you have been prescribed Azulfidine, please be sure to advise the doctor or pharmacist the following:

If you have an allergic reaction to aspirin, sulfapyridine, choline magnesium trisalicylate, sulfasalazine, choline salicylate, mesalamine, salsalate, trisalicylate, sulfa drugs or any other drugs.
Your current prescription and non-prescription medications. Do not leave out anything.
If you have any history with kidney, liver disease, porphyria, blood problems or asthma as well as blockage in the intestine or urinary tract.
If you are planning to start a family, currently pregnant, or are breast-feeding. Do not fail to contact your doctor in the event you may have conceived while taking the medication.

You should also try avoiding the sun as much as possible as Azulfidine tends to make your skin sensitive to sunlight. If it is unavoidable, make sure to cover all your bases: don protective clothing, eyewear, and lots of sun lotion.

Make sure to keep track of all your prescription and non-prescription medicines as well as appointments with your doctor and the laboratory as your doctor may want to check your response to Azulfidine through lab tests.
