Generic Name: clotrimazole vaginal (kloe TRIM a zole)

Brand Name: Femcare, Gyne-Lotrimin, Mycelex-G

Where to buy Mycelex-G Online?

Mycelex-G is a medication used to treat yeast infections in the vagina.

How It Works

Mycelex-G contains a drug called clotrimazole in topical and tablet form. Clotrimazole is an antifungal agent that can bind onto the cell membrane of the fungus and weaken it. This action results in the content of the cell from spilling out, thus cause the death of the fungus.

Mycelex-G is used only to treat vaginal yeast infections. The drug is effective in reducing symptoms of vaginal thrush such as burning sensations, itching and discharge.

Mycelex-G is not suitable for treating other non-yeast infections affecting the vagina, such as bacterial vaginosis. You will need different types of medications for these other conditions.

Mycelex-G dosages will be prescribed if you are taking the vaginal tablet. The cream comes with a set concentration of the active ingredient. Your doctor should instruct you regarding the correct dosage. Follow this prescribed dosage exactly.

Mycelex-G is not for use inside the vagina. Do not swallow the tablets.

When using Mycelex-G over the counter, read the patient information leaflet provided with the packaging very carefully. Read the illustrations as well. Ask the pharmacist if any of the instructions are not clear.

Use the cream only in the vagina using the applicator as instructed. Do not confuse the internal vaginal cream with the cream that can be applied onto the external genital area. A separate cream may be provided to apply onto the area surrounding the vagina. Do not use these creams interchangeably.

Wash your hands before applying the cream or tablet vaginally. Do not get the cream into the eyes. Wash hands quickly after application.

Mycelex-G tablets are usually prescribed to be inserted once daily for 1 to 7 days during bedtime. The frequency may differ depending on your doctor’s recommendation.

The vaginal tablet can be inserted using either the applicator or your fingers. When inserting, lie on your back with knees drawn toward your chest to ensure easy insertion. You must push the tablet as far into the vagina as it would go.

You must continue to apply the medication for the recommended period even if the symptoms quickly disappear. Stopping treatment early may cause the infection to return.

Side Effects

Mycelex-G may cause the following side effects:

Pain, itching or burning sensations in the vagina or urethra
Lower abdominal cramps

Do not use Mycelex-G if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the tablets or the cream.

Do not use Mycelex-G if you experience these conditions before use: fever, chills, stomach pain, flu-like symptoms and vaginal discharge that smells very bad. These signs indicate a very serious infection that requires immediate medical attention.

Do not apply Mycelex-G cream to the outer genital area (vulva) unless specified in the package instructions or by a doctor. Buy a separate cream suitable for external application for yeast infections to relieve burning or itching sensations in this area.

Avoid using tampons, period cups, spermicides, douches or other vaginal products when using Mycelex-G. If you get your period, use an unscented sanitary napkin.
