Pyridium is an oral drug that is basically used to relieve pain occurred in the bladder and urethra which belong to the lower section of the urinary tract. This medication may also be used to treat increased urination or increased necessity to urinate, injuries, burning etc.

Pyridium actually helps relieve the pain of the symptoms caused by other medical conditions such as infections or irritation in the urinary tract. Therefore, while taking this drug, you will have to take other necessary antibiotics prescribed by your doctor to treat the actual cause of the infection. Phenazopyridine is an ingredient of Pyridium that works as a painkiller to heal the lining of the urinary tract.
The normal dosage given to an adult is 200mg three times per day. This should be taken orally after meals. However, you have to strictly follow the recommendation of your medical consultant as the dose may differ depending your health condition.
In case if you forget to take a dose, when you notice it, take the missed dose right away. However, when you notice it, if you are too late or if it’s almost time for the next dose, you should skip the missed one and follow the regular timing. Under any circumstances, do not exceed the given dose unless it is recommended by a doctor.
