Slimex, generically known as Sibutramine, is a medicine that helps to reduce the excessive weight in your body. However in October 2010, Sibutramine was withdrawn from the U.S. market.
How It Works
When used in the proper prescribed amounts from your doctor, along with a calorie reduced diet, Slimex will aid in treating your obesity conditions.
Sibutramine is known to be a diet aid and appears to work by controlling the chemicals in the brain, which will result in reducing food craving or hunger. It supposedly grants increased metabolism and fat burn in the body as well.
Obesity can result in critical health issues like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. This medication along with a good exercise routine and a proper dieting scheme will surely allow you to get your body back into shape and avoid these dire health risks.
Sibutramine can be taken by mouth with/without food and generally should be taken in the morning, unless otherwise advised by your physician.
This is to avoid sleeping problems that may occur from using this medicine. You should not take 2 doses at once and in the case of missing a dose, go back to following the regular schedule by skipping the missed dose. The medication should only be used by the prescribed patient and should not be shared with other people as well.
Before using this, it would be best to talk to your medical practitioner about the benefits and risks that are involved. Also he/she should be consulted if your symptoms does not improve or worsen.
Medical attention should be taken promptly if the below listed severe side effects occur.
Severe allergic reactions (e.g. – breathing difficulties, tightness in chest, hives, rashes, etc.)
Changes in vision (blurriness)
Mood or mental changes
More common, less serious effects may include the following:
As this is not a complete list of possible side effects, your health care provider should be immediately notified if any of these or any other effects persist or worsen.
If you have allergies to certain food, medicines or other substances or if you are using any other prescribed/ non-prescribed medicines, dietary supplements or herbal preparations, your doctor should be made aware of them before using Slimex.
This is to avoid any unwanted interactions with Sibutramine and the other drugs that you are using. If your medical history has any mental/mood problems, bleeding problems, kidney or liver problems, heart problems, high blood pressure or seizures your doctor/pharmacist should be informed before using this drug.
As Slimex may cause unexpected effects to an unborn infant, make sure to contact your medical practitioner if you are pregnant, before using it.
It is also not recommended to breast feed while on medication as it might pass in to the infant through breast milk. When using this drug for a long period of time or at high doses, a kind of dependence or addiction might develop in some people for it. If this happens, medical advice should be taken from your doctor.
